Paint your own weft or warp yarn to make a silk scarf. By dyeing these knit fabric "blanks" rather than 2- and 3-yard skeins, weavers can produce color repeats of any length. It's surprising how easy it is to achieve subtle color gradations without changing yarns. You simply paint the dye in stripes across the width of the fabric in any colors and lengths you choose. After the dye sets, unravel the knitted fabric onto bobbins for use as weft yarn or onto a warping board for use as warp. Or you can buy an extra blank and use one for warp and the other for weft.
